Beatlemania is set to take over Newcastle with music royalty Paul McCartney set to perform at McDonald Jones Stadium on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.

Getting there

Free bus services will run at regular intervals from limited bus stops along six different routes to the stadium

  • Stadium shuttle 1 – Newcastle Interchange 
  • Stadium shuttle 2 – Charlestown/Kotara  with stops at Charlestown Square and Westfield Kotara. 
  • Stadium shuttle 3 – Glendale/Cardiff with stops at Stockland Glendale and Cardiff Station 
  • Stadium shuttle 4 – Wallsend/Jesmond with stops at Wallsend Library, Newcastle Road at Blue Gum Road and Newcastle Road.
  • Stadium shuttle 5 – Mayfield with stops at Wests Mayfield and Waratah Station.
  • Park & Ride  – with stops at Broadmeadow Station and Newcastle Entertainment Centre

Use existing bus, light rail and ferry services to connect with the Stadium Event Shuttle. 

Getting home

Return shuttle services will run for around one hour after the end of the show.

Additional light rail services will run every 10 minutes from 7pm until midnight.

Additional ferry services will run until 1am.

Other bus services

You can also catch any of our regular bus services to the stadium. The closest bus stops to the stadium are on Turton Road and Lambton Road. Regular routes 27,13, 23, 25 and 26 run towards the stadium.

What is the stadium shuttle service?

The stadium shuttle service is a free bus service which operates throughout the Newcastle Knights seasons and for selected other events.

There are five main routes departing Belmont, Glendale, Wallsend, Mayfield, Newcastle CBD with the service dropping off fans at McDonald Jones Stadium.

 

Do I need to pay or use my Opal card to access the service?

The Knights shuttle service is free for fans and supporters heading to Knights home games and selected other events. The bus services will travel to and from McDonald Jones Stadium on home game days, stopping at selected bus stops along the five routes.

Where can I catch the stadium shuttle?

Buses will depart from Charlestown, Glendale, Wallsend, Mayfield and Newcastle Interchange with stops along the way, including:

Are bookings required?

No bookings are required. Simply wait at one of the designated shuttle bus stops for the free service.

How often do services run?

For Knights games, services to McDonald Jones Stadium will begin two hours prior to kick off every game day and run every 15 minutes until the game starts.

After the game the last service will depart McDonald Jones Stadium, approximately half an hour after the game finishes.

Where do I catch the shuttle after the event?

The shuttle service will be available directly out the front of the stadium on Turton Road for half an hour after the match.

Each route will be signposted and way-finding signage directs passengers from the front of the stadium to the shuttle bus zone. Customer service officers will also be available to assist in locating your preferred service.

Do normal services still operate during this time?

Yes, normal timetabled services will continue to operate in conjunction with the shuttle service.

The closest bus stops to the stadium are on Turton Road and Lambton Rd. A number of regular route buses run towards the stadium including Routes 27,13, 23, 25 and 26.
