Newcastle Transport On Demand is expanding
Newcastle Transport will pick you up from a point close to your home and take you to a designated point close to your destination within the On Demand area.
On Demand operates in addition to existing routes in Dudley, Whitebridge, Mount Hutton, Windale, Tingira Heights, Eleebana, Warners Bay, Gateshead, and Charlestown areas.
From key activity centres such as Charlestown, Warners Bay and Mount Hutton you can connect with bus routes to continue your journey beyond the On Demand area.
The map below provides details of the Newcastle Transport On Demand area so you can check whether your home or destination is included in the area.
Give it a go by following these three steps:

When does the On Demand service run?
This new service is available from 9am to 4pm on weekdays, 7am to 6pm on Saturday and 9am to 6pm on Sunday.
What does it cost?
The flat fare is $3 per trip.
Concession fares of 50% also apply to this service.
It is important to note that this price doesn’t include the onward journey from your Transport Hub.
How do I book an On Demand service?
It is now easier than ever to book through the Newcastle Transport On Demand app. By downloading the app you can track the bus to your designated pick up point.

Can I just catch my normal bus instead?
Yes. The Newcastle Transport On Demand bus trial will operate in addition to existing bus services that currently service the area.
What are the payment options?
Newcastle Transport On Demand app has been updated to accept all forms of payment including Opal, credit card and cash.
OpalPay does not include Opal benefits, such as the Transfer Discount.
Can I make multiple travel bookings?
Yes, the booking system allows you to book multiple trips at once so that you can plan ahead up to 3 months in advance.
Your payments will be collected at the time of your booking so please remember to cancel or change bookings made in advance if your circumstances change.
